From CWA Local 4320 Trustees:

To our Union Brothers & Sisters:

At the monthly meeting held on May 13, 2020, a motion was put before the membership and approved to replace the roof at the Union Hall.  Bids were accepted and ultimately we contracted with a Union contractor by the name of Kalkreuth Roofing.

The replacement work began the week of August 10, 2020.  As the work was not completed at the end of the week, the roofers laid a tarp over the roof in order to protect it over the weekend.  Unfortunately, the tarp was not secured properly and there were several heavy rainstorms that weekend, which caused water to come pouring into the Union Hall, destroying the upstairs and causing some damage to the downstairs.

Additionally, the roofers then caused more damage to the building days later when they hit the east end of the building with a forklift.  More rains came, and the downstairs now has sustained considerable damage.

As trustees, it is our responsibility to address and take responsibility of the situation along with informing the membership.  We are currently working with claims adjusters and the roofing contractor.  There is no “quick fix” as this will be almost a complete renovation of the Union Hall amounting to several thousands of dollars in claims.

We will continue to keep the membership informed as we continue to work on the renovation process.

In Unity,

CWA Local 4320 Board of Trustees
